Bill Watkins
Bill Watkins came to the Dallaire Institute in 2018 as part of the VTECS Program and facilitated numerous trainings in Rwanda, Somalia, and Spain. In 2019, he joined the permanent staff as Senior Advisor – Research & Learning where he focused on Curriculum Development. He has been recently promoted to Director of Capacity Building Programmes. A retired Lieutenant-Colonel with over 32 years in the Canadian Army, he served in various capacities and deployed on numerous international missions including two tours in Bosnia with the UN Protection Force (UNPROFOR) and three tours in Kandahar, Afghanistan. In addition to his military experience, Bill spent five years as Adjunct Professor at American Military University providing online education in security studies. He is currently a PhD student at Leiden University
where his research is focused on the role of leadership in radicalization leading to violence. In his spare time, Bill enjoys racing motorcycles and oil painting.
