Friday Sebit Samuel

Friday Sebit is a dedicated and experienced Protection Officer with over nine years of progressive experience in humanitarian and development settings. He specializes in unarmed civilian peacekeeping (UCP), child protection, gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response, and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS). He has worked for the Non-Violent Peace Force as a National Protection Officer, in MSF Belgium as a Mental Health Counselor Educator, in Terre des Hommes as a Psychosocial Support Team Leader, and in Plan International as a food-for-education project monitor. 

He currently serves with Dallaire Institute as a community engagement officer, where he plays a critical role in advancing the Dallaire Institute’s mission to prevent the recruitment and use of children in armed violence and conflict through grassroots engagement, education, and partnership building. 

Friday holds a bachelor’s degree in social work and social Administration from Bugema University and has completed specialized training in unarmed civilian peacekeeping (UCP), mental health, case management, protection mainstreaming, and GBV survivor-centered approaches. 

With strong experience in both emergency and recovery contexts, Friday has played a key role in coordinating child protection case management services, leading GBV referral mechanisms, training frontline workers on protection principles, unarmed civilian peacekeeping, and integrating MHPSS into broader protection programming. He has also worked closely with national and local authorities, community-based structures, and humanitarian coordination platforms to strengthen protection systems and advocacy for policy reforms.
