MGen (Ret’d) James Alilu Ataguba
Major General James Alilu Ataguba was born on 31 July 1965 in Okenya, Igalamela Local Government of Kogi State, Nigeria. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant on 21 September 1991 into the Armed Forces of Nigeria. He has attended several military courses including; Young Officers Course Artillery, Target Acquisition Officers Course and Battery Commander’s Course. Others are; Regimental Commanders Course, Junior Staff Course, Senior Staff Course and National Defence College.
Gen Ataguba has held the following appointments: Army Headquarters; Deputy Chief of Operations, United Nations Mission in Liberia and Peacekeeping Affairs Officers, Office of Military Affairs, Department of Peacekeeping, United Nations Headquarters New York. Others include Commander 37 Artillery Brigade Garrison, Commander 32 Artillery Brigade, Deputy Director General Land Forces Simulation Center Nigeria and Commandant Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Center. Others include Chief of Army Standard and Evaluation, Director of Peacekeeping Defence Headquarters and Chief of Defence Standard and Evaluation.
Ataguba has the following academic qualifications: Bachelor of Science Chemistry, Master in Administrative Science, Master in Strategic Studies and Doctor of Philosophy Defence and Security Studies. He enjoys playing Football, Table Tennis and Badminton. He also enjoys listening to music. He is married to Mrs. Anthonia Ataguba and blessed with 4 Children.
