Simone Chia

Simone is a policy analyst with extensive experience managing programs and implementing research and knowledge mobilization initiatives across academic, public, and non-profit sectors. In her last role, she led the implementation of research and projects supporting newcomer integration throughout Atlantic Canada. Previously, at Dalhousie University's Resilience Research Centre, she managed a research network focused on refugee children and youth, where she oversaw grant management and developed a comprehensive knowledge mobilization strategy to connect research with practice. Simone has several years of project implementation experience with NGOs in Kenya and Somaliland.

Simone holds a BA in International Development Studies from McGill University and a Masters of Public Policy and Public Administration from Concordia University. Her global perspective—informed by her Singaporean origins, years in East Africa, and current home in Nova Scotia—enhances her approach to research partnership development, knowledge mobilization, and program management. Simone is committed to translating research into meaningful social change for vulnerable populations, which is what drew her to join the Dallaire Institute.
