Willem Dallaire

Willem is a serving infantry officer with over thirty years of experience. He has held senior training and leadership roles during Canada’s mission in Afghanistan and currently serves within the 2nd Canadian Army Division in Québec as a liaison officer, coordinating operations with emergency management, security, and intelligence partners. He has led planning and liaison teams during major natural disasters, humanitarian crises, and evacuations in Canada and abroad.

His deployments include Sierra Leone, where he served as a battalion advisor and witnessed firsthand the realities of child soldiering, and Haiti, where he recently led an international team addressing challenges related to gender, the protection of women, and the exploitation of children in conflict.

A member of what he calls the “Afghanistan generation” and the son of a veteran, Willem has a deep understanding of post-traumatic stress and moral injury. He is a committed advocate for destigmatizing mental health and speaks publicly on this issue across Canada."
